Isaiah Loxelain
Isaiah Loxelain is a socialite, industrialist, and philanthropist on the outer fringes of the Royal Family. He is most notable for his wanton chariot races through the Iron Rills, public drunkenness even where liquor is banned, and financial dealings with organized crime.
He is most notable for his "Product Of My Environment" legal defense, claiming that his upbringing permanently stunted his moral compass, and he cannot be held fully liable for his actions. This defense creates a tension for the judge: should they openly acknowledge the royal family's moral failings, or bow to his wealth and power? He has remained out of prison so far, despite committing offenses grave enough to land him in Hope's End.
Legal scholars debate whether this is elaborate performance art to draw attention to royal corruption, or if it is just exactly as dumb as it sounds.
