Faugilai is the oldest city in the Comerain Peninsula, and the only one to predate Griseo's Conquest. It is the second largest city in both the peninsula and the Kingdom of Comer at large, with 25,000 inhabitants. It sits on the shore of Lake Bailark.

Appearance

Faugilai is built in the old elven style of architecture and city layout. Its buildings are made of wood and built several stories high. Rooms within them tend to be small but with high ceilings, typically adorned with hammocks for extra space.

These buildings are placed haphazardly close together and without any central layout plan. Because of this, there are no central streets in the city. Inhabitants have adapted to the jungle of streets and walkways, but outsiders almost always need guides to get around. This demand led to the city council setting up the first tour guide service in the kingdom, a rather lucrative enterprise.

Visitors have remarked that no city has ever looked so much like a forest. The wooden architecture, the primarily dirt streets, and the common practice of maintaining a rooftop garden often has visitors and residents alike forget they are not in nature.

People and Practices

The population of Faugilai is overwhelmingly elven and Polytheist.

The city has as much industry as any other of its size. However, there are no markets or public meeting places within the city. Any business, whether it be economic, civil, legal, or otherwise, is conducted in a nearby field. Those looking to sell their wares must transport them from the city to this location, and then back for each day that they wish to sell. The result is that even the richest businesses often function as popup shops when dealing with the public.
